Call for Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) 2021

The 1st and the only call for the Short Term Scientific Missions (STSMs) within 2nd Grant period is now open. The purpose of these STSMs can be very diverse – ranging from scientific visits to a collaborating laboratory (e.g., measuring data as part of a joint research project), training visits to learn a new technique (e.g., for students, post-docs and early career investigators, technicians…), coordination visits to a joint research partner to optimize and plan further experiments (e.g., benchmarking), up to testing and evaluating new instruments or developing new methods. Both academic and industrial labs can qualify to host STSMs, so industry-oriented STSMs are welcome as well.

The majority of INNOGLY STSM rules follow the general COST Vademecum (https://www.cost.eu/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/Vademecum-V8-1-May-2020.pdf, Section 8), and are presented on INNOGLY webpage (https://innogly.eu/) with a minor modification. There is no planned deadline for the STSMs within 2nd Grant period, as “first come, first served” rule applies until the budget is consumed! This year’s COST Grant Period has been extended to up to 31 October 2021 (instead of 30 April). I remind you that the STSMs must be completed preferably by September 15 2021 and at latest September 30 to be reimbursed in the GP2 budget, as defined by the COST STSM rules:

  • They shall have a minimum duration of 5 calendar days that includes travel.
  • STSM need to be carried out in their entirety within a single Grant Period and always within the

Action’s lifetime.

Please bear in mind that:

  • Up to a maximum of EUR 3 500 in total can be afforded to each successful applicant, and
  • Up to a maximum of EUR 160 per day can be afforded for accommodation and meal expenses.

Innogly MC approved the modification of the last rule. In order to allow as many STSMs as possible, we have implemented a Daily Allowances list that defines maximum daily allowance according to the EU Country Coefficient.

All details about proposal preparation and submission can be found within STSM subsection of our website: https://www.cost.eu/cost-actions/cost-actions-networking-tools, and https://www.cost.eu/actions/CA18103/
